2015 Goals?

26 Jan

Good evening, ladies and gents!
How’s everything going?
It has definitely been more than one year since my last post, wow. Been a long time!

well, this time I wanna talk about something that might be kind of late since we’re on Monday 26th of Jan.
Oh well.

I want to talk about goals.

yes, goals.

I know, I know, we all had these moments where we make promises to ourselves of so many awesome goals each year, and then, we simply break them.

But I personally think that considering making a change in your life, generally is good. Because that says something, that says that you want to do something different, to become better, to change.
So, all cool.

But, think we need to start these engines and work! Because you know that you can’t just keep dreaming without achieving.

So, I’m going to ask you the so-famous question: What are your goals for 2015?

Am I a bit late for asking this question? Some of might think so. But let me tell you something that I believe and always remind myself with, as someone once said to me:

You don’t have to wait for a certain date, day or a year to change and achieve. You don’t! You can start your engines right away!

The thing that I think is cool about making a list of goals with the beginning of every year is that you would have a certain deadline to watch out for! Plus, with everyone around you trying to set goals for the next year, you kind of get encouraged.

so yes, please tell me:

What are your goals for 2015?

Book Review: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

2 Nov

Good morning everyone, and welcome, to another book review written to you by Rawan.

It’s been like forever since I posted anything, but here I am, writing a book review all of a sudden.

The book is The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and I’m pretty sure that I’m not the first one who wrote a book review about it. Pfff.. Duh!

It’s about a girl, named Hazel, who has cancer in her lungs.. she meets a boy in a support group named Augustus Walters, and her life, the way she spends it, kind of change.. a lot. You might want to read the real plot, I don’t want to say anything more about the story.

The Fault in Our stars is such a good book. I truly loved the way John Green wrote the book, it felt as if I was talking or at least listening or reading what Hazel had to say. Sure, I knew that John Green wrote the book and everything, but the very last chapters did seem as if Hazel was narrating the story herself.

The book is a realistic book, Its not a real story.. I know, but still: no superpowers, no werewolves and its not a ” My prince once saw me flying with superman and he fell in love with me” book.

It makes you think, because the book definitely has some good lessons, and this is probably the reason of why I truly like this book. It keeps reminding me to be grateful and thank Allah for all the blessings I have. And when I say ALL THE BLESSINGS, then I mean all the blessings I have in my entire life, and I’m not specifying health.

I love how the book teaches you, among many other lessons, how you should stay strong for your family and for the ones you love.

Sure, the books is not perfect, almost nothing is really, however I have to admit that the book made me cry unexpectedly. Yes, I expected to cry, shed a tear now and then or to not cry at all, yeah, but for some reason and at certain parts of the book I cried. I don’t know what I did expect or not expect, but I cried.

As I said the book is realistic, kind of sad but still, the book has a lot of sarcastic, funny moments.

I know that this review doesn’t really show how great this book is and how much I loved it, but I also know that I should be studying instead of writing a review and that I must end this review now. I might do another review about this book, though.

John Green, thank you, you are a genius, brilliant author.

And yes, I would definitely recommend this book.

Okay? Okay.

The Liebster Award!

3 Mar

First of all, I thank hardcoverangel for nominating me for The Liebster Award. The Liebster Award is a way to spread your blog by being nominated by a blogger. And there are some conditions are rules that you follow..

Here how it goes:

I’ll answer 11 questions that I got from hardcoverangel , and write 11 random facts about myself and finally, I’ll be nominating 11 blogs for this award.

It’s all about 11, right?

Let’s start!

1. If you could have any job, what would it be?

I’d be a doctor and an author. And of course, I would like to be so successful in both jobs.

2. What are your 5 all time favorite books?

Ooooh..Ok: Harry Potter, TMI, THG, Confession of a Shopaholic..

ohhh wait.. I’ll go and check my books..

I can’t choose! Too many good books! It’s so hard..

3. What are your most anticipated books of 2013?

Legend by Marie Lu and Divergent by Veronica Roth.

4. What would you never name your kids?

hahaha, I honestly don’t know. But I wouldn’t name them with names that have embarrassing meanings, that’s for sure!

5. What is the movie title for the story of your life?

There isn’t any. Let’s just make a new movie and call it: Rawan.

6. How often are you late for work/school?

Well, I usually get there really early ( So early that sometimes I wait for about 4o min before the class starts).  So I don’t get late, but when or if I do, then It’ll be like.. I don’t know.. 10-15 minutes max?!

7. What is the most unusual thing that has happened to you while on vacation?

I kept thinking and thinking for an answer, but couldn’t find any.

8. If you can be a Disney character, who would you be and why?

umm..I don’t know?

9. What accomplishment are you most proud of?

Let’s see.. since this is my first year in university then we may say that being in the university and graduating high school is an accomplishment, right? No? Yeah..???

In future, in sha Allah I’ll accomplish great things and I’ll make my family and friends proud of me.

10. What are some things that make you really happy?

Lots of things! For example: Food, reading, being surrounded by friends and family, playing and having fun with kids.

11. What is the first word that comes to mind when I say the word ” Awesome” ?

Jace Lightwood. No, really! Jace Lightwood was like the first thing that crossed my mind when I read the word “Awesome”. He thinks he’s awesome (Oh.. he knows he is) and I think that too.

Now, to the facts!

1- My name is Rawan. Not Rawanaa or Rawana or RawanAK. The A’s – and the K- are kind of a shortcut of my full name.

2- I love cats! I used to have one.. no. I used to have a cat and 7 kittens. But I ended up having one kitty. Now I don’t have any and that’s because my sister is allergic to cats.

3- I love it when the sky is cloudy and I also love it when the sky is sunny.

4- I love pizza.

5- You might want to find my 5th fact in my Bio on Twitter. @Rawan_aak :It’s about tomatoes.

6- I enjoy cooking. I really do! Especially, baking and cooking pastries in general. If I’m in the right mood, you’d probably find me in the kitchen baking.

7- I don’t know what my blood type is. I want to, though.

8- I enjoy reading. And sometimes I write stories ( like drafts) but I didn’t finish writing most of them.

9- I am NOT a shopaholic. Yes, I loved reading Confession of a Shopaholic, but I am not one. I might sometimes be.. in the mood to shop, but I don’t go all crazy about shopping. Not at all. Most of the times I probably prefer to stay at home, reading a good book and baking cookies.

10- I don’t own a laptop I just use the computer at my home, but I m considering to buy one!

11- My first language isn’t English. That might explain… ALOT! Hehe.

AND! The nominators for the Osca.. I mean the Liebster Award are:

I know, I know. I’m suppose to nominate 11 bloggers for this, but I’m still new here so I don’t know who else to nominate.  Anyway, these two blogs are really cool! Go ahead and check them.

And the questions that I want you two to answer.. are:
1- If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

2- What character in a book that reminds you of yourself?

3- What are the books that you’re looking forward to read?

4- Do you really think that highschool is as horrible as they show in TV?

5- Is there any special place, country you would like to visit?

6- How many languages do you speak?

7- What was your favorite subject in school?

8- Have you ever wrote a book?

9- What would you do if you were eating pizza and watching TV when suddenly, you received a text message saying that you’re being watched and that you should stop eating your pizza? hehe

10- What were your goals in 2012? And did you achieve them?

11- What are your goals for this year?

And this is the end of the post that might contain some mistakes. Sorry for that!

A Kind Of a Book Review: Harken by Kaleb Nation.

24 Feb

ImageSo I finished reading Harken on Wednesday, but I didn’t know that I was finishing reading the book because my kindle showed that I had 11 hours to finish it. You can imagine how shocked I was to know that the rest of the pages weren’t new chapters. When I figured that out I just stood up and I wanted to say a big: WHAT?! but I was in university, so I ended up standing and pretending to be interested in reading a poster.

The book was so good!

I did post the plot before I got my kindle and downloaded Harken. I remember how bad I wanted to read the book..

I had to wait and I did have some trouble downlading the books. And Harken deserves to be my very first book in kindle.

Again, the book was so good!

Harken is a supernatural book. And no, it’s not about vampires and werewolves trying to kill each other. It’s something new.

In the beginning, It was SO weird, I was confused just like – the main character- Michael Asher was. I didn’t get what was going on, but then you kind of get it. Though, I still have questions that were never answered in this book.

The action was so good! Loved how Michal Asher made me want to scream at him, how he surprised me and how he made my smile everytime he said something funny.

As for Callista and Thad, they were just amazing in the book, and I love them.

I honestly don’t know what to write more, but if you’re looking for a good book to read in your Kindle, then go ahead and buy Hakren. It’s 2.99 $

And If you did read it then please, do tell me what you think in the comments. Because I think that It’s a really unique book. I’ve never read anything like it before.

Oh.. and..

“Don’t Trust Anyone!” – Harken.

18 Feb

Just wanted to pass by..

This is my fourth week in my second term and that means that I’ll have more time to spend in studying and less time to.. read.

I have some really good books that I’m looking forward to read. But the question is: when?

Usually, when I read a really good book and I get into it, I spend hours reading it.

Last year, when I came back from school I went to my bedroom and started reading a book until it was dark outside, I don’t remember the exact time, but I kept reading for hours.

And the books that I have are really good ( or at least they seem like it).. So I don’t want to take ” the risk” of reading them, because I really want to focus on studying this semester.

But come on! I know at some point in the semester, I’ll look at these books and.. break down.

I guess managing my time would be the best decision here. I mean, does all this happen to you too?

Anyway, in case you’re wondering what I did on my birthday.. well, I cleaned my bathroom for the first time in my life! Interesting, huh? Not that I care, really.

3 Feb

Feb 4th.. That’s tomorrow.

Once upon a time a beautiful, amazing girl was born… Her name was Rawan.

Oh that’s me! *winks*

Yes, tomorrow is my birthday. And guess what? I’m turning 18!

I’m not excited about it. I mean 18.. It doesn’t sound cool..

So when people ask me how old I am I’d answer.. “18”

It’s not like they’re going to believe that anyway, since I look so young.

Besides, I really like the number 17 as an age..and..and Clary Fray is 17!!! Right?

Anyway, turning 18 feels so.. so..

Naah. I don’t feel so old, but still, it makes me want to change my life for the better.

I want to learn from my mistakes, I want to achieve good things and I want to be a better person.

Plus, I want to read new good books. 😀

Of course, I want to apologize to everyone I ever hurt their feelings, talked behind their backs or annoyed them in any sort of way in the past 17 years..

even If I were a baby..

Anyway, I am sorry and please forgive me.

So yeah, It’s my last day as a 17 years old girl.

Can’t wait to read HARKEN by Kaleb Nation!

16 Jan

Did hear about Kaleb Nation’s new book? It’s his first young-adult book as I heard. ( To be honest, I’ve never read any of his books before, but for those who did you might wanna know)

Its called Haraken. It looks REALLY good! I just can’t wait to get it on my Kindle, and my Kindle might arrive after a couple of days or so~ meeeh.

Here’s the plot that I got from Kaleb’s Nation website:

“After surviving an assassination attempt, Michael Asher discovers that he is at the center of a worldwide conspiracy higher than any earthly power. A supernatural organization with authority over world leaders, celebrities, and the wealthy desperately wants him dead. Tumbling into a web of international secrets, Michael is forced to fight back and dig up the truth. Who is the puppet master? And how far into the maze can he venture before he is lost forever?”

AHHHH!!! Don’t you think that it looks exciting or what?

So did anyone had this book on their Kindle? Did you like or did you not?

If you didn’t have the book yet, well, are you planning to buy it or not?

Come on.. My Kindle.. Hurry up! Please?

Book Review: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

14 Jan

hush hush node

I actually finished reading this book last week – I guess – and it didn’t take me long to finish it, really, about two days and a half.

My cousin recommend it to me and she told me the story. At first I wasn’t too excited about it, but then I got excited and bought it. ( even though my cousin brought both: Hush, Hush and COFA with her. But I didn’t want to wait. So I bought both. Yeah. Sorry Shahad!)

Anyway, the book is one of the books that finishes so fast it, draws you in, you wanna know what will happen next! So its a fast paced book to me.

I wanna note something but first I want – whoever reads my review and didn’t read Hush Hush yet, to read a little about the story.

So, Hush, Hush talks about a girl named Nora who meets a guy named Patch. Patch is her new Biology lab partner. At first Nora gets worried about her grades because Patch seems like a guy who doesn’t care much about his grades, so she goes to him – even though that she said she wouldn’t- and tries to talk to him so she can write her homework. Patch seems to be teasing her and gives her elusive answers whenever she asks him a question which makes her really curious to find out more about him. Day after day their connection grows stronger and as that, she finds herself in weird situations really weird, bizarre situations, unpleasant situations that doesn’t seem normal, not to mention how Patch seems to appear everywhere she goes. Sometimes she asks herself if she’s crazy! She just tries to find out the truth of whats happening around her, and Patch’s real life. ( Her best friend Vee helps her as well)

OK. Here’s the note: Some people said that Hush Hush is just like twilight.

I know right? Can you believe it!

It’s nothing like Twilight! The only common thing, is.. that Biology lab partner thing. And that’s it!

The story afterwards becomes really different. The story might start as Biology partners.. But NO! Hush Hush isn’t like Twilight.

Still not convinced? I don’t blame you! You better read the plot that is in the book cause I don’t think that I did a great job explaining the story myself, and if you read the story (Hush, Hush) you would, perhaps notice how dissimilar the stories are to each other.

Let’s do a little talk about the characters:

Nora: She’s – obviously- the main character and  you know? what I really like about her is that she would do the things that I want her to do! You know when something happens to a character in a story and you’re like noooo don’t go here don’t do that and so on? Yeah well, Nora does the the things that makes me feel comfortable and not so worried of what she might face. You get it? But yeah, she did some stupid things too.

Patch: Patch..Patch..Patch. How should I describe your mysterious, funny, creepy personality? His life is so fuzzy. What do you want? Who are you? These are perhaps the questions that Nora had in her mind whenever she saw him or thought of him ( which happens to be a lot). He’s funny and he’s supposed to be good looking and so on. I don’t wanna talk about him a lot, you read the story and find out more about him.

Vee Sky: is Nora’s best friend. She’s all about having fun, she’s crazy, and yet she’s not annoying, although she is annoying to her Biology teacher. I just love how she’s with Nora and how she tries to investigate with her. And yeah, you can imagine her doing some reckless things.

Well these three seems to be the most main characters. Yes, sure there is more important charterers but I think its better for you to know them by reading.
Ok, so I just wanna say that the story is creepy, and I kept telling my self that. There were some moments were I got some small chills all over my body, just small ones. ( I don’t know if I made them up or it actually happened.. the story is still creepy though)

So the books is: Fast paced, creepy, supernatural, exciting, has some funny moments and not like Twilight.

So go ahead! Read it! It’s a good book. Not a crazy, amazing book that makes you want to cry, but still its good! Really good!

Again, you can read the plot of Hush, Hush if you didn’t like mine. ( cause I’m not really sure that you did)

You may leave your comments. I REALLY would love to read them.. yeah.

Note: I might write another review to talk about the actual events and what was my opinion and blah blah. But that would be a BIG SPOILER for you if you didn’t read the book.
